For a long time now I have taught myself to install software by gleaning information, a piece at a time, from the internet. I cannot reckon how many tutorials I followed that were out of date, incorrect or just boggled all to heck and back. Doing so frustrated the blazes out of me so I took a path to learn servers and software and whatever I could figure out so that I could learn to use terminal correctly and run my own servers. I now run seven servers at two different hosting companies.
This does not make me an I.T. professional. They are light-years ahead of what I do, or know. I am strictly seat of the pants but then A.I. came along. Wonder of wonders I had a teacher for learning which has allowed me to absorb more information than I would ever have learned doing it the way I had been.
But, because it was so difficult and time consuming, and mistake ridden, I immediately took advantage of A.I. to learn more than an old man should know about servers and how they work and how code is quite particular as how it is used. A space, an incorrect comma, or just one letter not copy/pasted accurately takes down an hours worth of work. Simply put, working with servers is not for the timid or any one who worries about how dumb they might have been. Grin and move on is what it takes to do this!
I begin this for all of us who have no formal education working with code but love the results when we get it right. For this I began Tecputer. Call it a sounding board, a psychology help line, or a place to vent as concerns code (no politics!) or just shoot the breeze if you possess a license to do so. I would love to speak with you, share notes or shoot at PCs in a field. Come on aboard.![]()
